The 5 Minute Face

Personally, when I put my own make up on I like it quick and simple. I don’t like the feeling of heavy make up nor do I like tons of products just piled on my face. And most days I usually don’t wear any at all, but when I do there are 5 essential no-fail products that are my go-to essentials. And what’s great about them is some are multi-purpose. So I’ve put together a short tutorial called “The 5 with 5 in 5 face.”

The 5-with-5-in-5 face

Pre-step: Make sure you’ve properly prepped your face. Meaning, moisturizer (Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer) and eye cream (Origins GinZing eye cream) has had ample time to soak in and your face. And let’s not forget about those chapped lips either, and for that I love Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream. And if you’re planning to go out, make sure and protect your skin with sun block (Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion)!

Step 1: I like to start off with my brows first, and one of my favorite products is the Maybelline Define-A-Brow in medium brown. Starting off with the arch and tail, then with light feathery strokes filling in the rest of my brow. Make sure and brush the hairs into place after!

Step 2: Take Anastasia’s eye lights matte (I have the color camille) and draw on your brow bones and at the top of your cheek bones. This will highlight the areas you put it on, giving you the illusion of more awake eyes and a more pronounced cheek bone. Make sure you rub the highlight in and blend so no harsh lines are present.

Step 3: Take your mascara of choice – I like L’Oreal’s voluminus in carbon black. Add mascara until you get desired lash effect. You can also take the other end of your Maybelline Define-A-Brow and use it as a lash comb too! (Don’t you just love multi-purpose makeup!) Don’t forget to coat your bottom lashes too!

Step 4: Take your foundation or tinted moisturizer of choice and apply. I’ve used Estee Lauder’s Daywear Plus Multi Protection Tinted Moisturizer. I’ve actually used a bit more of my moisturizer and sheered it out even more.

Step 5: I’ve taken my Boots No7 sheer temptation lipstick in Tempt and used it as a multi-purpose applying it on my lips as well as on the apples of my cheeks. Make sure and blend your cheek stain in so you won’t have any visible lines! I love using the sheer temptation lipstick because not only does it give a slight wash of color, when it’s applied on the apples of my cheeks it looks dewy and healthy.

Step 6: Get dressed, plop an accessory in your hair and you’re set!
